Maritime Research and Technology

Maritime Research and Technology (MRT) journal is a biannual international peer-reviewed journal which presents a global forum for dissemination of research articles, case studies and reviews focusing on all aspects of the maritime sector and its role in sustainable development. MRT publishes original research papers in English analysing the international, national, regional or local maritime industry. MRT includes both theoretical and empirical approaches to topics of current interest in line with the editorial aims and scope of the journal. The objective of MRT is to contribute to the progress, development and diffusion of research in the maritime industry.

The aim is to provide a multidisciplinary forum for studies of the maritime industry from the perspective of several broad areas of scientific knowledge. Subject areas suitable for publication include, but are not limited to, the following fields:

  • Shipping and Ports
  • Marine Pollution and Energy Reservation
  • Maritime Education and Training (MET)
  • Engineering Technology
  • Hydrographic Sciences
  • Digitalization and new Technology (Cyber Security – Internet of Things – Autonomous Ships – etc.,..)
  • Sustainable Development in Maritime Industry
  • (Marine Safety – Marine Security – Offshore Services – Maritime Law – Blue Economy – Fisheries - Logistics) & Others.

The manuscripts presented must be unpublished works, which have not been approved for publication in other journals. They must also fulfil all the requirements indicated in the 'Technical Specifications' section. The quality of the papers is guaranteed by means of a process of blind review by two scientific referees and one linguistic reviewer. Although the journal is published in print format, the processes of submission and reception of manuscripts, as well as revision and correction of proofs, are all done electronically.

The journal is open-access with a liberal Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial 4.0 International License which preserves the copyrights of published materials to the authors and protects it from unauthorized commercial use.

As of January 2024 MRT applies the following APCs:

- 2000 L.E. for the Egyptian authors.

- 100 USD for foreign authors.

The journal is financially supported by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in order to maintain quality open-access source of research papers on Maritime Research and Technology.
